Obituary of Margaret Hanelt

Margaret A. Hanelt, age 96, passed away at Heddington Oaks in West Peoria. Margaret has walked on with hope in her heart. She was always joined by her loved ones in her journey through life and now walks on with her families of loved ones who have preceded her. Margaret put her faith in one pair of hands. She called to Him and He has answered her to guide her on this journey. Margaret was preceded in death by her loving and dedicated husband Earl Hanelt; her father and mother Mr. and Mrs. Christian and Susanna (Wanderer) Weber; her brother Herman Weber; her sister Anna Marie (Weber) Hurst and Anna Marie's husband Richard Hurst; and her niece Suzanne (Hurst) Lloyd. Margaret is survived by her two sons Michael (Mary Kay) Hanelt of Hanna City and Ronald Hanelt of Eureka; her granddaughters Colleen (Rick) Hanelt-Jackson of Macomb, Christy (Troy) Cash of Yates City, and Sarah Hanelt; six great granddaughters; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. Margaret was a lifetime member of the German-American Central Society where she shared her love of music as the director for their Damenchor for many decades. She was a successful agent with Crowley Realty and later made her career as a Music Therapist with the Illinois Department of Public Health from which she retired. She enjoyed the summers of her retirement at the family's second home on beautiful Cass Lake in Northern Minnesota. She also played the organ at St. Boniface Catholic Church for many years. A memorial mass for Margaret will be held at St. Ann's Catholic Church on Friday, March 10, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Father Don Roszkowski will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:00-10:45 AM at the church prior to mass. Burial will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Peoria.
