Obituary of Lois Wrigley

Lois Elaine (South) Wrigley, age 95 of Peoria, died on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Lutheran Hillside Village with her family by her side. She was born on September 9, 1921 in Decatur, IL to William A. and Pauline (Mossbarger) South. She married Wallace H. Wrigley on August 21, 1943. He passed away on November 7, 2007. She is survived by two daughters, Sharon (Mrs. W. Michael) Schafer of Elkhart, IN, and Carole (Mrs. James N.) Christman of Peoria; a son, Steven H. (Carol) Wrigley of Peoria; six grandchildren, Jon (Kim) Wrigley of Peoria, Deborah (Greg) Bailey of Washington, Rebekah Weber of Peoria Heights, David (Melissa) Wrigley of East Peoria, Andrew Christman of St. Paul, MN, and Daniel Christman of Peoria; four great-grandchildren, Kyle Wrigley, Rebekah Weber, Joshua Wrigley, and Justin Wrigley, all of Peoria. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother. She worked in tabulating at Caterpillar from 1941 to 1946. She obtained an Associates Degree in Nursing from Illinois Central College and worked as a Registered Nurse at OSF St. Francis Hospital from 1971 until 1984. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Peoria and its CHC Sunday School Class, United Methodist Women, and the Lora Battin Circle. She was a member of the St. Francis retirees group, and was also a member of Brage Lodge #29, Independent Order of Swithiod (an organization for Swedish immigrants and their families; her husband was of Swedish descent.) The family is especially grateful to those who provided care to Lois during the final chapter of her life, especially the staff at Lutheran Hillside Village, OSF Hospice, and First United Methodist Church. A memorial service for Lois will be held at 4:30 PM on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Lutheran Hillside Village in Peoria. Pastor Pat Monroe will officiate. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Lutheran Hillside Village. Interment will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 116 NE Perry Ave., Peoria, IL 61603, Lutheran Hillside Village Foundation, 6901 N.
