Obituary of David Rogers

David Jeffery Rogers, age 53, of Peoria passed away at OSF St. Francis Medical Center on Friday, March 17, 2017. He was born in Chicago on September 8, 1963 and was raised by his parents Maurice Staub and Ima Rogers. After living together for 10 years, he married Jill Thorn on June 4, 1994, and they celebrated 22 years of marriage last year. David is survived by his wife Jill of Peoria; sisters, Deby (Chuck) Earney of Chillicothe and Madora Bryant of Peoria; nieces, Amanda (Craig) McMurtry of Morton, Kandy Coleman of Peoria, Jessica (Jon) Nielsen of Peoria, and Abigail Scott of Peoria; nephews, Charlie Earney of Chillicothe, Tim (Ashley) Scott of Chillicothe, and Jacob Scott of Peoria; great-nephews Jaxon, Jacob, Tim, and Jon Jr.; great-nieces, Emilie, Isabella, and Madison; sisters-in-law, Lorraine (Steve) Scott of Peoria, Joy Phillips of Peoria, and Kathleen (David) Reed of Georgia; his Coulters cousins; and many other great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Samuel Staub, Patrick Earnest, and Gary Staub. David worked at UnityPoint Health Methodist for 20 years, as well as Sharon Elms Nursing home for the past 10 years in Dietary. He loved riding his motorcycle and playing with his dog, Sammy. David was passionate about his dogs, and adopted both Elvis and Rocky, who have preceded him in death. He was a wonderful husband and provider, and will be greatly missed by all who loved him. A memorial service for David will be held at 7:00 PM at Cumerford-Hurd Funeral Home in Peoria on Thursday, March 23, 2017. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions in honor of David may be made to Peoria County Animal Protection Services.
