Obituary of John Babington

John E. Babington, 83, of Peoria passed away peacefully with family by his side on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at UnityPoint Proctor Hospital in Peoria. John was born on May 8, 1933 in Sparland the son of William and Lois (McQuilkin) Babington, Sr. He was first married to Janet Blackburn on September 8, 1957 in Lacon. After Janet passed away he married Joann (Osburn) Hoskins on September 29, 1990 in Peoria. Surviving are his wife, Joann of Peoria; his children: Julie (Mike) Spears of Peoria and Jona McDermaid of Chillcothe; Step-Children, Cindy (Tom) Giese of Peoria, Scott (Debbie) Hoskins of Dearborn, MI., Andy (Jenny) Hoskins of Morton, and Angie Fields of Peoria; Grandchildren: John Spears, Molly Spears, Jamie Brown, Jeremy Brown, Scott Hoskins, Jon Giese, Kara (Steve) Willman, and Ryan Kammerer. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janet; son, John; sister, Mildred Thurber; and a brother William Babington, Jr. John spent over thirty years as a salesman for Evans Products and Sequoia Supply Company in Peoria. John was an avid duck hunter, hunting on the Rice Pond Preserve for 47 years. Drawn to the Illinois River he loved fishing and boat racing. He also liked to golf and bowl. He loved his family deeply. Family and friends may attend the funeral for John on Monday April 24, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Pastor Pat Monroe will officiate. A visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon from 2-4:00 PM and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Peoria Affiliate. Burial will be held at a later date following his cremation.
