Obituary of Catherine Nell

Catherine Ann Nell, age 88, of Peoria passed away at Heartland Health Care Center in Peoria on Wednesday, April 26, 2017. She was born on January 30, 1929 in Hillsboro, IL to Ross and Thelma (Clarkson) Lessman. She married Ronald Paul Nell on September 16, 1950. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter-in-law Sandy Nell. Catherine is survived by her children, David Nell of Sharpsburg, GA, Stephen Nell of Peoria, and Deirdre (Tony) Caruso of Springfield; grandchildren, Heidi (Joel) Avant of Bonaire, GA, and Kyla (Dusty) Thames of Senoia, GA, Tony (Katie) Caruso of Sugarland, TX, Ray (Brandy) Caruso of Naperville, Bridget Butler and Rachael Caruso of Springfield, and Nathan Caruso, who is currently serving in the US Army; and 11 great-grandchildren. Catherine played piano for her church choir for 35 years, enjoyed Corn Stock Players, and playing duplicate bridge. Catherine enjoyed sewing drapes for Jumers and others for over 30 years, and loved spending time with her dog, Tasha. Cremation rites have been accorded. Catherine and her husband will be interred at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro, Illinois on May 20 at 2:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to Bradley-Epworth Methodist Church for their music needs.
