Obituary of Kenneth Westerdale

Kenneth Stuart Westerdale, 89, of Peoria passed away at his home on Thursday, April 27, 2017. Kenneth was born on March 17, 1928 in Galesburg IL to Claude and Edna Johnson Westerdale. Kenneth is survived by his brother Robert Westerdale of Millersville, MD, Daughter Laura Betts of Bartonville IL, Sons Paul (Joan) Westerdale of Westport CT, and Tod (Cyndi) Westerdale of Peoria IL, seven grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren. Kenneth married June Aylward Westerdale July 20, 1985 and enjoyed many wonderful years together traveling and wintering in Arizona and Texas until she passed away on April 15, 2010. June was survived by two sons, Frank (Julie) Aylward of Salem, SC and Guy (Marilyn) Aylward of Mount Vernon, Il; and daughter, Nancy (Richard) Highduke of Flower Mound, Texas, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Kenneth was a graduate of Galesburg High School, attended Knox College and graduated with a BA in Fine Arts from Bradley University. Upon graduation, Ken went to work in Peoria’s thriving advertising business of the 1950’s as one of the original “Ad Men”. He retired from Ross Advertising in Peoria after a successful career as Partner and Creative Director. He also applied his creativity in visual arts for many years donating time and talents to numerous museum exhibits, benefit auctions, and sharing his personal vision. Friends and family are invited to a visitation Friday May 5 at University United Methodist Church, 2818 N University, Peoria, IL from 11am-1pm; Graveside service to follow 2pm at Swan Lake Cemetery, 4601 War Memorial Drive, Peoria, IL.
