Obituary of Ike Ramsey

Ike Ramsey, Jr. age 86 of Bullhead City, AZ passed away in Chillicothe on Friday, May 19, 2017.

Ike was born on December 26, 1930 in Chillicothe the son of Isaac S. and Bena E. (Kling) Ramsey. He married Martha A. Peek on May 3, 1987 in Chillicothe.

Surviving are his wife, Martha of Bullhead, AZ; his children: Kim (Greg) Murnan of Chillicothe, Tim (Julia) Ramsey of Vista, CA, Julie (Tony) Bulis of Vista, CA, and Anne (Chris) Hamlett of Oceanside, CA; stepchildren: Larry (Melissa) Chandler of Edmonton, AB, Canada, John Chandler of Tucson, AZ, Sherri Galusha of Irvine, CA, and Yvonne Waidlech of Princeton, MN; grandchildren, Krista Joyce of Ave Maria, FL, Kainon Murnan of Chillicothe, Katie Ramsey of Pacific Paradise, CA, Sam Ramsey of Seattle, WA, Carolina Ramsey of Vista CA, Calvin Ramsey of Vista CA, Ryan Bulis of Vista, CA, Austin Bulis of Vista, CA, Carly Bulis of Vista, CA, Jewlian Hamlett of Oceanside, CA, Larry Chandler, Jr. of Spruce Grove, AB, Canada, Joseph Chandler of Edmonton, AB, Canada, Nicole Galusha of San Francisco, CA, Natalie Galusha of Irvine, CA, Don Waidlech of Princeton, MN, and Layna Waidlech of Princeton, MN; 25 great grandchildren; and one brother, Gaylord Ramsey of Chillicothe. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and a sister.

Ike was a entrepreneur, tradesman, and perfectionist. He could do just about anything from carpentry, electrical, plumbing and more. He owned and operated Roto-Rooter Plumbing and Drain Service in Imperial Valley, CA, Yuma, AZ, Vista, CA, Miami, FL, Edmonton, AB, Canada, and Fairbanks, AK for many years. After he retired from plumbing business he then became a guide outfitter and ran professional traplines covering more than 12,000 acres in Alberta Canada. He loved being outdoors, fishing and hunting. Ike traveled all over the country doing what he liked.

Ike also had a great gift of remembering which made him a great poker player, winning many amateur and professional tournaments.

Ike was a veteran with the U.S. Army during the Korean War, from 1951 to 1953. . He flew with the 101st Airborne Division, an elite modular specialized light infantry division of the Army trained for air assault. they were known as the "Screaming Eagles". Ike loved to fly and obtained his instrument pilots license.

Friends and family are invited to a funeral for Ike on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 5-7:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Chillicothe City Cemetery with Military Rites.
