Obituary of Brenda Lorton

Brenda C. Lorton, age 61, of Sparland, passed away at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria on Monday, July 10, 2017. She was born to Thomas and Mary (Maclamar) Knapp on October 26, 1955 in Springfield, IL. Brenda is survived by her children Bill (Sunny) Lorton of Lyndhurst, OH and Jennifer (Billy) Waldemar of Sparland; brother, Terry (Donna) Knapp of Jacksonville; sister, Trula (Matt) Thomas of Pekin; grandchildren, Kailyn, Kory, Michelle, Kendra, and Dallas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Thomas (Cindy) Knapp. Brenda earned a Nursing Certificate and worked as a CNA at White Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Washington Christian Village. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Sparland. She enjoyed crafting, needlepoint, participating in St. Joe's Bazaar, making Barbie Doll clothing and furniture, playing Bingo, sitting outside, and spending time with her grandchildren. Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service for Brenda will be held at First Baptist Church in Sparland on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 5:00 PM. Rev. Elaine Bolen will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour before at the church. A second memorial service will be held in Jacksonville, IL at a later date.
