Obituary of Marianne Campbell

Marianne Jean Campbell, 90, of Chillicothe passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at UnityPoint Proctor Hospital in Peoria. Jean was born on April 26, 1927 in East Palestine, OH to David and Mary (Patterson) Ulbrich, she married Mel F. Campbell on January 20, 1951 in East Palestine, OH. He survives. Also surviving are one son, Clyde of Chillicothe, three grandchildren, eight great grandchildren with one expected in December, one brother David of Angus, Ontario, two sisters, Ruth Hurst of Aurora, Ontario, and Glenda Ney of Ravenna, OH. Jean graduated from Muskingum College at New Concord, OH. Jean was best known as a school teacher for many years, having taught Kindergarten and Reading in Joliet, Plano, Rome, and Chillicothe South School, retiring in 1987. Jean served her community in many ways, past president of Nu chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, past president of the Chillicothe University Club. As a member of the First United Methodist church she held many offices including past president of United Methodist Women, Church Librarian for many years. she also served on the broad of director for Cunningham Children's Home at Urbana. She and her husband are charter members of the Pearce Community Center and supporters of many community projects. A visitation will be held for Jean on Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 5-7:00 PM at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Cremation will take place with a Celebration of Life Service held at a later date. Memorials may be made in Jean's name to her church.
