Obituary of Paul Smick

Paul H. Smick, age 88, of Chillicothe, passed away at Heritage Health in Chillicothe on Wednesday, September 20, 2017. Paul was born to Roscoe and Agnes (Peeler) Smick on November 3, 1928 in Anna, IL. He married Alice Gayle Leggett on July 15, 1949 in Anna, and they spent 68 wonderful years together. He is survived by his wife Gayle of Chillicothe; children, Steve (Gerry) Smick of Peoria, and Dianna (Jerry) Fortson of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Jenny (Dave) Hamilton of Chillicothe, Josh (Desirae) Smick of Chillicothe, and Cara (Andrew) Fetterolf of Washington; great-grandchildren, Garrett and Kaylee Smick, and Delaney and Cooper Hamilton, all of Chillicothe. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Earl Smick of California. After graduating high school, Paul was a Carpenter Apprentice and worked as a carpenter for many years, and then worked as a painter at Caterpillar for 28 years before his retirement in January of 1991. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Chillicothe and a Charter Member of Pearce Community Center, and enjoyed woodworking in his free time. A funeral service for Paul will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Reverend Ron Martz will officiate. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Chillicothe City Cemetery.
