Obituary of Kenneth Colwell

CHILLICOTHE-Kenneth Dean Colwell, 88, of Chillicothe passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at St. Joseph Nursing Home in Lacon. Kenny was born March 29, 1929 in Peoria, the son of Harold and Ida (Beck) Colwell. He married D. Jean Colwell on April 8, 1956 in Farmington. She survives. Also surviving are: one daughter, Cheryl L. Harms of Chillicothe; two grandchildren, Amber (Charles) Rusk and Greg (Sam Hobbick) Harms, both of Chillicothe; four great-grandchildren, Maculen, Angus, Hayden, and Cash; and one brother, Donnie Colwell of Chillicothe. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Harold Colwell; one son-in-law, Ron Harms; and one brother, Jim. For 46 years, Kenny worked as a brakeman for the Santa Fe Railroad. He was also a veteran of the United States Army. Kenny was a member of the Peoria Casting Club, loved NASCAR, the St. Louis Cardinals, country music, bluegrass music - and even played the banjo. A funeral will be held for Kenny at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at noon. Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation with the family two hours prior to the service at the funeral home, starting at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Philip Taylor will officiate.
