Obituary of Edith Brown
Edith Brown, 93 of Peoria passed away on February 27, 2018 at Rosewood Care Center, East Peoria.
Edith was born on February 20, 1925 in Minonk to Joseph and Lena (Kruse) O'Brien. She married Herschel C. Brown on July 3, 1948 in Pontiac.
Surviving is her son, Charles D. (Karen) Brown of Tremont; grandchildren: Melanie (Landon) Parker of Dunlap, Nathan C. Brown of East Peoria, and Lori (Vince) Crook of Creve Coeur; and one sister, Hazel Vogel of El Paso. She was also proud great grandma to 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband on November 30, 1985, son Rodney J. Brown, granddaughter Lisa Morrissey, brothers: Franklin, Clarence and John O'Brien, sisters: Esther Dalton, Clara Stimpert, Ellen Mense and Marjorie Warkentin, foster parents Fred and Icie Casper, and foster brother, Robert Casper.
Edith worked for Alexander Pen and Pencil Factory in Bloomington and then for WABCO as a cafeteria cook.
Edith loved to do word search puzzles and did them every day. When she was in High School, she sang in a Quartet and a Duo, even performing on Bloomington radio station WJBC.
Funeral service for Edith will be held on Monday morning at 11:00 am at Cumerford-Hurd Funeral Home located at 428 West McClure Avenue Peoria. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service time at the funeral home. Burial will be held in the Gridley Cemetery in Gridley.
