Obituary of Veronica McClure

SPARLAND- Veronica V. McClure, 101, of Sparland passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at her home. Veronica was born on March 24, 1916 to Michael and Eva (Stoeckmann) Godsill. She married Herbert I. McClure on November 7, 1942 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on February 18, 1993. Surviving is one daughter, Donna (Robert) Cusac of Chillicothe; one son, David (Patty) McClure of Peoria; five grandchildren, Heidi Whitman of Chillicothe, Heather (Paul) Knight of Georgetown, TX, Brad (Jennifer) McClure of DeForest, WI, Kristina McClure of Orlando, FL, and Michelle (Royal) Randall of Chillicothe; five great-grandchildren, Samantha (Brian) Bencal of Phoenix, AZ, Nathan Whitman of Chapel Hill, NC, Tyler Knight of Georgetown, TX, Zachary McClure of DeForest, WI, and Jayce Randall of Chillicothe; one great-great-granddaughter, Evelynn Bencal of Phoenix, AZ; and one brother, Michael Edward Godsill of Peoria. One sister, Mary (Patrick) Fitzgerald of Peoria, preceded her in death. Veronica and Herbert purchased their farm in 1962. They owned and operated Hen Haven Egg Farm. Veronica was an avid reader of books and her daily newspaper as well as an accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, baking, and pinochle. She loved spending time with family on the farm. A funeral Mass will be held for Veronica at 10:00am on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at St. Edward Catholic Church in Chillicothe. Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation with the family the evening prior, Friday, March 16, 2018, from 5:00-7:00pm at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. A Rosary will be offered following the visitation at 7:00pm. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or Eversight Eye Bank.
