Obituary of Lesel McClung
CHILLICOTHE - Lesel E. (Pete) McClung, 82, of Chillicothe passed away on July 5, 2018 at his home.
Pete was born on October 18, 1935 in Mountain View, AR the son of Edward and Kate (Wallace) McClung. He married Ernestine Baker on July 3, 1958 in Walnut Ridge, AR.
Surviving are his two children, Peggy (Bob) Bennett of Chillicothe and Douglas (Lisa) McClung of Baraboo WI; three granddaughters, Candace Dunbar, Kristen Allen and Jocelyn Bennett; five great grandchildren, Carson, Caiden, Bradley, Wyatt and Koen; and his long time companion Sherrie Smith.
Pete was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He belonged to the AMVETS.
Pete had a long career with Caterpillar, Inc. worked for 36 years as a Research Technician. He was a member of the Peoria Casting Club. Pete enjoyed doing a variety of things, working on television and radios (the old tube type). Pete enjoyed taking pictures, SCUBA diving, and loved camping, especially around the lakes in Arkansas where he was from. Pete also loved traveling and going on bus trips with Sherrie. Pete coached baseball for many years when his son played baseball and softball when his daughter played. Pete also was a long time Cub fan. Pete really enjoyed and loved being with his family.
A funeral service for Les will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at 11:00 am at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service time at the funeral home. Burial will be held in the Chillicothe City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to A.R.K.
