Obituary of Carroll Holloway

Carroll T. Holloway, 81, of Chillicothe passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Liberty Village skilled care unit. Carroll was born in La Harpe the son of Kenneth W. and Vesta L. (Spangler) Holloway. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Schisler) Holloway, whom he married on March 26, 1961 in Astoria; his children, Craig (Denise) Holloway of Frisco TX, Chris (Joe) Holloway of Pompano Beach FL, Curtis (Andrea) Holloway of Aurora and Colleen (Rich) Zdrojewski of Celina, TX; and five grandchildren, Megan, Raeann, Kaitlyn, Caden and Taylor. He is preceded in death by his parents. Carroll was a civil engineer, working for the Illinois Dept. of Transportation, District 4 in Peoria for 32 years. He also worked for Maurer-Stutz Engineering in Peoria and as a bus driver for Peoria Charter. Carroll was a member of the Central Illinois Farm Heritage Tractor Club in Princeville. He had two tractors, Allis-Chalmers and his father’s 1950 Ford 8N. He was also a member of the La Harpe Masonic Lodge 195 A.F. and A.M.; Scottish Rite Valley of Quincy; and the Mohammed Shriners, Peoria. Carroll enjoyed going to his children's events when they were in school. He was an avid reader, his favorite authors were Tom Clancy, Clive Cussler and Dale Brown. He liked big band and Dixeland jazz music. A visitation will be held on Thursday evening, July 26, 2018 from 5-7:00 pm at the Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe, followed by Masonic Rites and a funeral ceremony. A graveside service will be held on Friday at 11:00 am at the Spangler Cemetery in Carthage. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Mossville United Methodist Church or to the Fountain Green Presbyterian Church.
