Obituary of Candace Dunbar

Candace Renee Dunbar, 39, of Peoria, IL passed away on Saturday, July 28th, 2018, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. With Candace’s strong will to live along with the love, support, and prayers of her friends and family, she put up a seven year fight against the disease that would ultimately take her life, Cancer. Candace was born on December 6th, 1979 in Peoria, IL. Her parents, Robert (Bob) and Peggy Bennett reside in her childhood home in Chillicothe, IL. Candace was known for her heart of gold. Her compassion and love for others was able to shine through daily at her job at Peoria Area Veterinary Group where Candace was an Office Manager. Hats for Healing was an organization she started to personally deliver a hat or scarf to patients at Illinois Cancer Care who were going through chemo therapy. This simple gesture gave her so much joy being able to touch so many lives. Candace is survived by her parents: Robert "Bob" and Peggy Bennett; 2 sons, Carson, 13, Caiden, 9 and their father, Taylor Dunbar; life partner: Patsy Bowers; 2 sisters: Kristen (Jeff) Allen and Jocelyn Bennett; and her grandmother, Beverly Bennett. She is preceded in death by maternal grandparents: Lesel (Pete) and Ernestein McClung, paternal grandfather: Robert L. Bennett, her maternal grandmother, Mary Ellen Cunningham and four nephews. A private graveside service will be held at the Chillicothe City Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
