Obituary of Donald Hamby

PEORIA - Donald D. Hamby, 81, of Peoria passed away on Aug. 22, 2018 at Rosewood Care Center in Peoria. Don was born on December 29, 1936 in Stockton, MO. the son of Sam A. and Florence L. (Heath) Hamby. He married Wanda L.Chapman Feb. 9, 1957 in Peoria. She preceded him in death on June 30, 1998. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ronald. Surviving are his siblings, Shirley Mae Vollmer of Elmwood, Bobby (Kathy) Hamby of Elmwood, Roger (Brenda) Hamby of Stockton, MO, Terry (Jody) Hamby of Bartonville, and Jerry (Bonnie) Hamby of Mapleton. He is also survived by his long time companion, Vi Noel. Don was a truck driver for Teamsters Local 627. Don loved to fish and hunt. He had a passion for flying radio operated airplanes. He spent many hours building the planes and flying them at Detweiller Park and near Chillicothe. A graveside service will be held on Fri., August 24, 2018 at 11:00 am at Swan Lake Memory Gardens. Cumerford-Hurd Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
