Obituary of Marjorie Newcomer

Marjorie Mae Newcomer 95, of Peoria died September 6, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. W.S. Newcomer, parents George and Mae Kimpton, brother Harold Kimpton and son Kim Newcomer. She is survived by her children Marc Newcomer, Nancy Daraban (John), Suzanne Newcomer (S.O. Paul Gilbert), Katie Lorimer (Tim), Marc Daraban and step grandchild Kiel Mackie and great grandchild Reese Lorimer, nieces Priscilla Newcomer, Marcia Welch and Ginger Kennedy. She attended business school and worked at the Galesburg Veterans Hospital during her husband’s deployment to China during WWII. They relocated to Peoria in 1951 and lived here until her death. Marj was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. She enjoyed being a girl scout leader, volunteering at Methodist and Proctor gift shops and Mothers against drunk drivers. She also enjoyed playing golf and bridge. Burial service will be at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 11:00. Visitation will be one hour before service at the church. Interment will be following the service at the columbarium at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church music program or St. Martha’s Guild or the Shriners Hospital. The family would like to thank Lutheran Hillside Village Care Center for their extraordinary loving care during her final months.
