Obituary of Larry L. McCaw

Larry L. McCaw, age 75, of Chillicothe, passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Larry was born on March 22, 1943 in Peoria, IL to Leo and Marybelle (Decker) McCaw.  He married Sharon Rand on November 23, 1983.

Surviving are his wife, Sharon; three children, Matt (Courtney) McCaw of Peoria, Sean (Joely) McCaw of Bloomington and Amy (John) Ehrgott of Edwards; two step-children, Tim Taylor of St. Louis, MO and Todd (Beth) Taylor of Reno, NV; four grandchildren, Luke, Jake, Maura and Adam; six step-grandchildren, Jennifer, Shannen, Heather, Garrett, Kevin and Colleen and six step-great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his half-brother, Lester McCaw.

Larry graduated from Eureka College and later from Bradley University with his Master’s Degree.  He was a teacher and coach, working for most of his career at White Middle School in Peoria.  He retired in 2001.  Larry was a member of Arrowhead Country Club and was an avid golfer, especially with his Tuesday Tour Golf League.  He enjoyed playing cards, was a diehard Bears and Cardinals fan and he loved watching his grandchildren play sports.

Cremation rites will be accorded.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 11am at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday as well as on Friday, January 25, 2019 from 4pm to 6pm also at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
