Steps Involved in the Funeral and Final Disposition Planning Process

Planning a funeral is an extremely overwhelming and stressful task. It is something one cannot prepare for, and can be a difficult process to handle. The better prepared you are, the easier the task will be. Funerals tend to be very chaotic with visitors, family and relatives constantly around. The first steps:

It is difficult and heart-breaking to cope with the death of a loved one. However it is important to keep a few steps in mind while planning a funeral. Contact family members and inform them of the situation. Contact the workplace that they were a part of. Follow the cultural and religious needs of the deceased. Have a fixed budget for the funeral service and find the right funeral home. Decide on whether the body will be buried or cremated. These first steps will ease the planning process for you.

Final disposition planning:

Once the service is completed, you have the option to conduct a reception or go to a cemetery. The cemetery has a committal service that will help with the burial. The service lasts for about 15-30 minutes, this is the time for family members and others to pay their final respects. If it has been decided that the deceased will be buried, the casket will be lowered into the grave. If he/he is to be cremated, the family has the choice on whether the urn should be placed in the grave or in a columbarium.
